I introduced Teddy to bubbles a while ago and he loved them. The other day? I whipped them out again and he was both uber-excited and then freaked out. I only caught the tail-end of his "these things freak me out" face, but I promise it was hilarious in real life.

The new view
Now that Teddy can easily go from back to tummy, and tummy to hands-and-knees, I often find this when I go to get him up from his naps.

So big, so small
I marvel at how fast time flies with Teddy; how much and how quickly he has grown. He seems so big to me these days. Then we take a trip to the park and I realize how small he still is.

Dear Teddy,
7 months old already? Man, time flies when you're having fun. And, boy are we having fun with you these days!! You seem to have the most fun trying to eat things that are a) electronic, b) Dad's or my face/fingers/hair/elbow, or c) otherwise inedible. You also enjoy standing. Just standing - with no where to move to or nothing to do but just stand for standing's sake. Except for when you decide letting go of my fingers and dive-bombing me face first would be fun. You think that is exceptionally fun.
You still are not a crawling baby, but you are thisclose. You can get on all fours and rock back and forth. You've been known to scoot your self backwards and sweep our floors with your tummy. You discovered the handle on our TV stand the other day, and I'm thinking I may need to get on that
Sweet potatoes, apples, bananas, pears, carrots and squash remain as your favorite foods. We've ventured into the world of finger foods, but you're still not convinced. Maybe it's the whole I-don't-have-teeth thing that is getting in your way...
We're still trying to secure your first house, but we're hoping you'll have some
Well shucks, that's the most fun I've had in a long while, little man.
Love,
Mom

History
This past weekend there were two historical events. Both were covered extensively by news media. Both were celebrated by crowds of people. However, one was full of beauty and love (or at least, I assume it was) while the other was full of death and anger.
You are too young to have any memory of either of these events, and I'm thankful in some ways that you aren't older. How would I explain to you the significance of world events? How would I make you understand that people got up at ungodly hours of the night to watch a wedding? How would I tell you that people were chanting "USA" in pride after the death of a terrorist leader?
I see history through new eyes - yours. Eyes that have yet to comprehend a sunset or words on a page. Eyes that only understand smiles. The innocence in your eyes makes me hopeful that we learn love first and hate later, that we see beauty before ugliness.
